The National Park of Krka covers more than 142 square kilometers. The river Krka is surely the most wonderful of all the rivers in the Croatian karst. It runs through a canyon, and than as it cuts its way to the sea it forms lakes, waterfalls and rapids.
Between the two most beautiful waterfalls, Roski Slap and Skradinski Buk, on the island Visovac, there is a Franciscan monastery with a valuable library. The Roman fortified town of Skradin, now with a hotel and marina, also lies within the national park.
